Burdock is an interesting biennial to grow, with a combination of large round leaves and arrow shaped leaves on the same plant.
It is quite hardy and not demanding in the garden and will grow alongside almost anything.
If you grow it for the root, then harvest can happen in the first year but it is always wise to allow one to continue for it's second year so that flowering can occur and seed collected.
Consuming the root is the most efficient way to absorb it's blood purifying potential and as a preventative for colds and flu, skin disorders and cystitis.
We have read that it should be avoided during pregnancy but do not know to what extent personally.
