In most parts of Australia Pyrethrum is a hardy perennial, and what better way to manage your own insecticide than to grow it.
It will grow to around 75 cm in height and as it matures it will spread to almost one metre.
Planted during late Spring and early summer, it will give the absolute 'Cottage Garden' look from Summer to Autumn, at which time it is ready to harvest the flower heads to dry.
Dried and powdered flowers form a convenient dusting insecticide, but it is best used when there is an infestation of bugs rather than a deterrant.
Due to the nature of the seeds, we pack it by the pinch rather than a definative quantity.
