We have found that this perennial root herb is impossible to predict as far as where it wants to live in the garden.
Almost always after planting, Licorice will come up somewhere else instead, or as well.
Friable soil seems to be best if you want to harvest the root as heavy soils make it very difficult to access the root at harvest time.
Sweetwood is an excellent tonic herb that no self respecting herb garden should be without. It is a mild laxative and helps acid indigestion.
Licorice helps to stimulate the body to produce its own interferon. Its constituent glycyrrhizin inhibits prostaglandin E2 production.
Licorice also nourishes the adrenal glands and soothes irritated mucus membranes.
Licorice is added to other herbs to improve the flavor, and the herb helps to induce feelings of calmness, peace and harmony.
Potted Plants - $14.00
We no longer sell rootstock when dormant during the cooler months, as is the nature of the plant.
Some plants are planted seasonally, as their nature demands.
These will therefore only be available while they last, as we try not to plant more than will survive in a condition appropriate to be mailed out with the greatest chance of survival.
If we are out of stock (especially annuals), we will not be planting until the time is right for the particular plant, once again.
This may be up to 8 months, depending on the plant.
We will not sell these plants out of season.
PLEASE NOTE: We cannot send live plants outside Australia, to Western Australia or Tasmania.
