While Bergamot is a North American Herb, it does naturalize very well in most parts of Australia.
It does best in the garden where it can enjoy the morning sun, but be spared the harsh afternoon in Summer.
It is a perennial herb that enjoys being trimmed back when it starts getting 'leggy' and the trimmings are, of course, dried for later use.
Wild Bergamot can be grown in a large pot and kept for years in that situation.
The only demand that the plant has, is constant dampness during summer and not during winter.
