Ever since the 1930's, wheatgrass has been grown as a high energy supplement.
While growing wheat to harvest the grain is not something every gardener can or wants to do, growing the seed to the point where you can 'mow' it with a pair of scissors and then juice the greens for a highly nutritious drink, certainly is, easy and convenient.
All that is necessary are a couple of seedling flats that are commercially available almost anywhere.
The seed is allowed to grow to 10 - 15 cm in height and then clipped and juiced, or dried to powder later on.
In Australia, we can grow it almost all year and it is ideal for small city blocks or apartment living.
All you need is good quality, organically grown seed.
