Perennial shrub with many branches that can have a slightly sprawling habit.
Another native to Australia, it is a stunningly perfumed bush in October. It has to be a favourite.
Easy to grow, with not much in the way of maintenance, except for frequent trimming.
If the shrub is constantly pruned and trimmed it is an excellent hedge plant that is very popular with small birds as a nesting and roosting shrub.
The perfume can be extracted from the flowers and a dye from the berry.
Being quite frost tolerant, it makes an great protective border for more sensitive plants, and will comfortably grow under the shade of large trees.
