Like all of the mints, Pennyroyal is an excellent groundcover, and, if left alone will happily populate most areas of the garden.
We have found that, while it likes to be moist often it will die back if the soil cannot drain well.
The common name Pennyroyal includes this species Mentha pulegium, (the European variety) which can be used interchangeably with Hedeoma pulegioides (the American variety).
This variety, however, the European variety is considered more potent than the American.
