Henna grows as a loose or open small tree and has not, over the years, thickened up with constant pruning.
It is a reasonably attractive shrub, and, in mid summer, is covered by small cream coloured flowers with the most delightful scent. Especially in the late afternoons and evenings.
'Campire' is the perfume manufactured from the flowers.
The leaves, apart from the well documented use as a hair and skin dye, are very astringent and are commonly used for fevers, headaches, stings and aching joints.
The bark, fruit and leaves are all used medicinally and the tree itself, is very hardy and quite tolerant of drought conditions, and did not care a jot that we were recently flooded and other plants around it were struggling.
