Fumitory is a lazy herb that likes nothing better than having a garden of shrubs to lean all over while it meanders around.
As an annual, it is not unattractive, but if you are expecting a 'stand alone' herb it can be disappointing.
It is listed as toxic in many references and that may well be so, but it is so bitter to the taste that I'm not sure that one could consume enough for it to be a problem.
Used externally as an anti inflammatory, antiseptic lotion, it works for us extremely well.
It grows best during Winter and Spring, tending to 'pass on' in the hot months.
