Cleavers is a sprawling annual that we usually plant within a tripod frame to keep it reasonably happy and under control.
Grown this way, it is quite lovely and convenient to allow use of the fresh leaf and stem.
It has a 'velcro' touch which is quite a novelty in the garden.
Best sown in winter for Spring growth if you are north of Newcastle but it will grow at most times of the year in southern regions.
The fresh leaf can be used at any time and we have found that the dried herb is useful all year around without any loss of effectiveness.
The seed strikes easily and the plant is suited to a wide range of soils so we do not sell the seed in huge quantity as there is no need to plant many to get the maximum result.
